Hi all,
I hit a light snag in my MTC development... it turns out that my digital recorder only sends the quarter-frame messages, and doesn't bother with the "full message" SysEx messages when it jumps to a marker. So I can't fully test that support. Hmph!
Anyway, while verifying that this was indeed the case (and that I hadn't simply forgotten to set some option on the recorder) I found out that the recorder can act as an MMC slave. "Aha, another little project!" :)
In the RG sources at the moment there is some support for acting as an MMC master in the ALSA driver, but the call to turn it on is never referenced. Likewise, there are UI elements in the configuration dialogue for enabling MMC master mode, but they are commented out.
It looks as though MMC master support got 90% of the way to completion and was then disabled. Is there a reason for this? Or to put it another way: should I build on what's there to get MMC control of my recorder working, or is that code "doomed" in some way and should be ignored?
Vince
