I find that especially strange. Even with the printer I was just grumbling
about, the quality on the page has always vastly exceeded what appeared on
the screen. Well, "always" meaning since whenever Chris revamped the
printing in the long ago days way before 1.0 released. It used to look quite
cheesy; rather like a screen print with the GIMP, actually. Now it's
knocking on Lilypond quality, although it's not quite that good.

The new printer helps because everything is scaled correctly, and there are no
weird gray things composed of broken fine lines, mind you.

As for your own printing problems, I HATE Linux printing. Especially inkjets.
This most recent printer is the only thing I've *ever* gotten to work
perfectly, and it's the only printer I've ever gotten set up and working
perfectly with less than 10 hours of dicking around.

I'm fighting with a printer right now, on another box, for hire. It's
supported, it even has a name brand Linux driver with the company's logos all
over it, and THE DAMN THING ISN'T WORKING! I bid $100 for this job, and I'm
losing my ass on labor. I'm going to wind up doing it for $5 an hour.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
