You can record any number of audio and MIDI tracks at once so long as your computer is powerful enough. > You can also select a MIDI track and one or more audio tracks at > the same time. To do so, you can arm one or more audio and MIDI tracks at the same time. Be careful not to accidentally leave tracks armed when you have finished using them and are trying to record somewhere else. I wouldn't use the term "selected track" to describe the "armed" state. You can select only one MIDI or audio track at any time, clicking over the track button. You "arm" any number of MIDI or audio tracks clicking over the yellow/red recording track LEDs. > This is no longer true. The available MIDI sources may be selected in the Studio window "Manage MIDI Devices", lower section - Record devices. You should check the box under the header "Current" for every MIDI device where your MIDI keyboards or any other MIDI controllers are connected. By default, all armed tracks receive every incoming MIDI event. Each track may process (filter into it) events coming from some device and/or some MIDI channel only. To do so, use the recording filters on the Track Parameter Box. If you leave the default ("all") values, there will be no filtering, and all the recording tracks will receive the same events. The two filters are cumulative. You can choose one channel from all devices, or one device for all channels, or only one channel from one single device. When you are recording MIDI tracks, the MIDI thru function works different from the playing or stopped mode: * When Rosegarden is playing or in stopped state, the MIDI thru function routes events to the selected track instrument. The selected track has its track name highlighted. * When Rosegarden is recording, the MIDI events are routed to the armed track(s) instruments, based on the recording filters. It doesn't matter which track is selected. Only one instrument is selected for each event, corresponding to the first track with a matching record filter. If you prefer to use an external MIDI routing system, you can disable the MIDI thru function using a new menu option (Composition->Studio->MIDI Thru Routing). MIDI thru is enabled by default. There is also a global MIDI Thru/Record filter allowing to select a set of MIDI event types to be recorded or routed.
