Sorry about this off-topic post -- this actually has nothing to do with Rosegarden at all, it's just me ranting a bit and hoping someone here can offer a quick tip. (I'm still here, but have been very, very busy recently and the end is not quite in sight yet, I'm afraid.)
Anyway, just a quick question -- can anyone recommend an alternative to kiconedit, which I've previously used for making simple icons and button pixmaps? The version of kiconedit in Ubuntu 8.10 has gone all KDE4 and seems to be busted in so many ways that I would spend more time filing bug reports than I have available to make the icons, and with all sympathy to KDE4 developers from the perspective of someone more often on the receiving end of those unhelpfully broad reports, I just need a tool that works. Inkscape (excellent though it is) is overkill for the sort of things I'm thinking about, which are usually the very obvious first-cut icons that fill a space until I've decided what should go in it. Gimp is actually closer, but not really ideal. If I can't find anything else I'll probably use "pixmap", the ancient Athena application, clumsy though it is, but a more modern suggestion would be very welcome.
