Easiest way to reproduce the crash:

1. New document.
2. Assign track 1 to "Synth" and load a plugin (any plugin)
3. Save this file (probably not required, but convenient)
4. File->New
5. Open synth plugin manager, and try to assign plugin #1 to a plugin
6. BOOM!

You can repeat it on future runs by starting Rosegarden, hitting Ctrl+R to
load the file you saved previously, then Ctrl+N to start a new document, then
starting the plugin manager.

I spent about an hour looking into this and it's all the time I have. I think
this is probably related to the way we used to save things from the studio in
the last document for use in the current document when creating a new
document. Something is pointing to something that's no longer there, but
what, and where elude me.
