Currently, as I understand it, overlapping segments is a way to implement polyphony on a single notation staff. Certainly it doesn't work very well and there is room for improvement here. Nevertheless placing segments on different tracks to avoid overlapping is very easy. So what exactly is the goal of the proposed change ?
