Hello Bart,
Concerning:
Creating a new midi instrument, connecting through midisport2x2 to my xv 88 is
no problem
I've had issue with my old MIDIsport 2X2 when used for sending (recording) MIDI
in RG and other applications. Play back is good though. So keep that in mind
if you try to record. Note on and off messages were not recorded "in time."
Loading the bank throws one problem : importing controllers results in crash,
errors and such.I just loaded the VX88 banks and controllers just fine. What
version of Rosegarden are you using and which option are you selecting from the
dialog when you import the bank/controllers?
When using the XV88, I can only use one instrument!!! I have thousands in my
XV88!!!When chosing another instrument of my XV in a second track, it just
takes the one of the first track.I
have 'Performance - banks' in my keyboard, in which I can make a
combination of instruments, for example, track 1 bass, 2 piano, 3 flute.
But There is only a way to select the performance bank, not the
individual instruments of this bank. Very strange, and dissapointing.
Changing the midi channel results in no change at all. Once I change
instrument in my XV88, all tracks change to that one sound, while I did
specify seperate midi channels for the different tracks.
I have a Roland product here as well. You are in the right track thinking that
you need to be in performance mode. But it sounds like you will need to do
some additional setup on your XV-88.
I looked at page 52 in the VX-88_r_e .pdf
(http://media.rolandus.com/manuals/XV-88_OM.pdf). Looks like you need to
program in the performance to Rx ON along with which channel, etc. I didn't
look closely. But you should. Make certain you are listening to each of the
16 channels in your performance and ensure you are allowing the device to
process Bank and CHannel changes from Rosegarden (via your MIDISport).
I hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Julie S.
