Rosegarden has to work pretty hard to make musical sense out of a
piano performance, so this is not unusual. Can you send an small
example .rg file with just a few problematic whole notes in it? That
will give us an idea what steps you will need to take to get this
looking the way you want.

registering whole notes as quarter notes. Instead of one note, it record
4 quarter notes. I have tried monitoring the midi input directly using
alsa, and nothing seems wrong. I am not using quantization.
