I just heard that WebMD will be using ftp with pgp encryption.
I think that is a reasonable and affordable solution that many will
contemplate.

Subject: What are the predominate internet file transfer methods used
today?

We are presently architecting our solution to sending data securely over the
public internet. Our technical folks have asked a couple of very specific
questions regarding protocols to use (Secure FTP, vanilla FTP with DES3
(PKI) encryption & authentication, HTTPS). I am asking the members of this
listserv if they could send me any information they have regarding any
internet protocols & architectures they presently use so I can get an idea
of what other Providers, Plans, and CHs use. Thanks in advance for your
responses.
