you should have no trouble with pike.
more interesting is the question if you have permission to load custom
modules, since you say the server is managed by your department, you may
not have access to the roxen website administration interface (this is
different from the CMS)

you can of course run your own server for development (see the video for
how) and hand them the module once it is done.

(btw: the video explains setting up roxen on linux. if you have windows
or mac then the instructions may be slightly different. just ask if you
have questions. also, you may want to check that you get the same
version of roxen that you are running in your department. for following
the workshop, the roxen version makes no difference but for developing
your code, having the same version is probably better.)

i doubt it. i'll try to record it, but resources to manage this are
limited. btw: the official start is 7pm alaska time, but that includes
time for participants to set up and get started. that part is covered by
the video. so you may join later in the evening. the end of the workshop
is at 2am alaska time. (btw: in europe this is from 5am to noon CET)
