I fully agree with that!
Having ported the code to the pocket pc and also used directx for my
'private' version shows that it is very 'doable'..

and for Tom:
there are many people who appreciate what you have done and still are
doing! I hope you have enough close friends that can help you in times
of hardship. everyone has good and bad times but everybody deserves
help and attention when things are rough. So hopefully there are
people who can stand by you during these times.
