I have looked into this, and this isn't the problem - the pathnames HostFS 
presents to RISC OS are perfectly okay. The problem is that RISC OS strips the 
filename then sends it back to HostFS. I believe this is probably to do with 
RISC OS 4 handling of long file names - presumably there's a different 
initialisation needed to present HostFS as a filesystem that handles long file 
names/file names with spaces, but I don't know what it is.
