Source tarball creation has no business taking anything from the binary build
directory unless explicitly told to do so. I certainly have not.

what it looks like to me: "Note that CPack blindly copies anything in that
folder, so you should generate dist packages from a clean checkout."
Ugh. I much, much rather trust git than myself :laughing:
