> Save the packagers some typing

I generally agree with the rest of the discussion, but I want to reply to this
point in particular:
I very much disagree that those macros make things easier. Typing `/usr/bin` is
not any harder than typing `%{_bindir}`. The original form is shorter and also
has characters which are more accessible on the keyboard. For me the process of
substituting the macro forms is an annoyance that only slows me down. First I
have to figure out what the directory is, so I look in the file system, so I
have the path at hand, ready to select&paste, and that'd be it, but then I have
to find the right macro. Is it `%_datadir` or is it `%_sharedstatedir` or is
`%_configdir`? The names are arbitrary and confusing and introduce obscurity
and make it easier to make mistakes.

As far as I'm concerned, such macros to "save typing" are not worth using and
should not be recommended at all.
