I would say RPM_BUILD_NCPUS itself *is* the official way to set it. The
rpm-internal macros get derived from it if set on the outside, eg
"RPM_BUILD_NCPUS=n rpmbuild...", but where it gets confusing is that it can
also get set (for the build scriptlets) for from the related macros.
I think we need proper documentation for this more than we need yet another way
to set it 😅
