--- Comment #6 from NicolasChauvet <[email protected]> 2009-06-05 20:55:31 --- That's the other way, (as XvMC) . A vdpau capable player (mythtv xine-ui mplayer XBMC, etc) need to link to vdpau and a vdpau enabled ffmpeg (see #531 ). that's the open source (free) side of things. (hence , totally possible for us to redistribute). Now for any end users to use the vdpau output, there is a need for capable hardware (GeForce >= 8xxx) and the related "binary only" driver. that can be installed at runtime. this vdpau wrapper library will then dlopen the vdpau backend library. (again, same as XvMC) There is a very close relation beetween the vdpau wrapper library (this package review), that provides a given vdpau API, and the API that the binary driver support. Now, despite XvMC, vdpau doesn't have a free implementation. So any fedora reviewer could say it has failed the usability test... So this is all a matter of decision... At least it could exist a vdpau opensource implementation... -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
