Ideally the maintainer for the EL branch should have an EL machine to test packages on. If you have such a thing, perhaps you would be interested in becoming an EL branch maintainer ?

In EL + EPEL + RPM Fusion:
- EL has many old libraries, which can't be upgraded, yet the current version of packages in Fedora / RPM Fusion don't work. - We need a person who can be responsible for the package, including responding to bug reports, and releasing new packages with appropriate amount of testing.

I encourage you to consider becoming an EPEL/RPM Fusion EL package maintainer...

Cheers,
David Timms.
