Hi. First sorry for my english (french user). I want to use my Vaio SZ4 on FC10. The SZ4 is particular. He had a material switch between two GPU.
Mode Stamina : Intel GMA950 Mode Speed : Nvidia 7400go. GMA Driver : Mesa 7.2-0.15.fc10 OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) 945GM GEM 20080716 x86/MMX/SSE2 Nvidia driver : nvidia 180.29-1.fc10 kmod-nvidia 2.6.27.21-170.2.56.fc10.i686 Under windows , when we switch in stamina or speed mode we need to reboot. I want the same in my fedora. This is not a hot switch that i need (who must be very difficult). I've installed FC10 under my GMA950 stamina mode with intel driver. No problem. I had the acceleration. I've save the xorg.confstamina After I did a yum install kmod-nvidia who's installed the last nvidia driver. Reboot on speed mode. No problem. Acceleration with the nvidia card. I replaced the xorg.conf of gma for reboot into stamina mode. No problem. But i've lost the acceleration. I've desinstalled nvidia driver and then i recovered the acceleration with the GMA. Therefore, the intel and nvidia driver are incompatible. However some people havesucceeded to get this switch work with a script in the init.d. But this scripts are very old (2007) , the locations are changed , and the module too... The script of veskit because he had the same issue with the nvidia driver who's killed the direct acceleration of the intel GMA950. But this script are very old. I've change his script (but is must be very bad , because that don't work now too) VIDEO=`/sbin/lspci |grep -c nVidia` (change on the lspci) if [ "$VIDEO" = 1 ]; then cp -f /etc/X11/xorg.conf.speed /etc/X11/xorg.conf (i've don't test the speed card with my stupid modification of this script) modprobe drm modprobe nvidia-agp rm /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so /usr/lib/libGL.so.1 -f (somes changes on files locations but i think not the good...) ln -s /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libglx.so.speed /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/nvidia/libglx.so (same) ln -s /usr/lib/libGL.so.speed /usr/lib/libGL.so.1 (same) else ( here there was normally a modprobe intel-agp , but i had a fail with this module... i've removed this line ...) cp -f /etc/X11/xorg.conf.stamina /etc/X11/xorg.conf rm /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/nvidia/libglx.so /usr/lib/libGL.so.1 -f (same for location change) ln -s /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so.stamina /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so (same) ln -s /usr/lib/libGL.so.stamina /usr/lib/libGL.so.1 (same) fi I think I have said everything. So if you have other solutions to make it work, (this script or any other idea). There is no reason that I am the only owner of the SZ who's don't get it to work for the switch (lot of tutorial of linux laptop, but the same xorg.conf change script). Thank you by advance.
