Handbrake is a great program especially when trying to generate a video file of a specific size. However the latest version do not support output AVI, XVID and DIVX video file formats which are often the only formats that some hardware (DVD players etc) support!!! Arrggghhhh... Because of this people still wanting to generate such format files need to use an older version (v0.9.3b), or go back to DIY handling with mencoder. If RPM fusion supports it I suggest it provides a method of allowing BOTH new and old versions to co-exist! I have also found that the old version has trouble with sound on some of the MKV video formats, producing a movie with no sound, or a pulsating noise. Mencode has no problem with this at all!
