Video card is GeForce GTX 960
I can't really help, but my GTX 960 in my desktop (only ever
use one monitor) never has this problem.
On the other hand, my GTX 750 Ti at work used to crash
my whole system about 30% of the time when I'd log off
and it would try to restart X. That seems to have cleared up
lately.
This is one reason people hate closed source video drivers :-).
This card worked like a dream with two monitors for a few years with no
issues until the upgrade that caused this.
I agree, it can be an issue with closed source drivers.
It is a real problem now as it is seriously disrupting use of this
computer.
Replying to my own post.
Found the problem.
It turned out to be an HDMI switch box I added to allow me to hook up
other computers or items to the one monitor. For some reason, it
screwed up Xorg finding the monitor.
Argh.
Robin
