Thanks Serge, but I want to have the raw value for billing purposes and on the other hand I also want to be able to plot them out with rrdgraph for viewing (no need for raw values though).

You might as well use mysql if you want to save raw values. Rrdtool stores rates and rates are always over a timespan.
