Hi Jeremy,

I have actually managed to trace the cause of the problem. the values that I 
was entering were time dependant. - I was taking the sum of 5 results that 
fell within a minute. depeneding on when the cron job runs, the last result 
in a query could contain the sum of anywhere betwenn 1 and 5 results, hence 
throwing correct rate of change values.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions.

What happens when the underlying value rolls over or is reset?  What
do you want to be graphed then?
