I am oten doing something like this ....

cp something-beta-1.iso something-beta-2.iso

Then rsync --progress --partial --stats --block-size=8192
somewhere::blah/something-beta-2.iso .

When I want to go from beta-1 to beta-2.. and usually.. if all goes well..
this works..

HOWEVER..

A).. I hate having to copy that ISO (for no reason too)..
and
B) IF... (and this hapens often) the transfer aborts, it (of course)
truncates the beta-2.iso when it was up to.. thereby.. killing all the
purpose of having the origional there.. and effectively.. back to
"download the lot".. (Especially if I was norty, and actually did a mv
beta-1.iso to beta2.iso.. whoops)....

Wish List Time....

rsync somewhere::beta/beta-2.iso --also-using=beta-1.iso .

Such.. that it would use "beta-1.iso" as well as say a partial beta-2.iso
on the HD to make checksums from.. Perhaps even liting MANY other
files/images to make checksums from..

Is this possible? How hard would it be to do? Is it possible to do this
now?
(I know.. I can cat the partial and old ISO together to a new one.. but
that is really tedious and wastes space)..

Any ideas?
