The one big item that I needed from 2.4.x was that was when the
support was added for interleaving multiple IO channels over the
single pipe - thus, stdout and stderr from the server were properly
communicated back to the client. In earlier releases, output that
might be going to stderr would mix with the normal protocol
communication and cause protocol errors.
I run over an rsh-like pipe, so I'm not sure if this is an issue just
with that approach or if it also impacts ssh and/or client/server.
Your checksumming problem sounds similar to the DOS/Windows timestamp
discussion that occurred on the list recently. I forwarded a patch
that permits a window of time rather than an exact match to be used
with the timestamp that you might try to see if it resolves your issue
with 2.4.3.
