List,
I tried 5.4.0 last weekend on two machines and ran it for almost a week.
During that time I noticed that every day when I got home from work both
machines server/log collector and my client machines fans were racing
(both laptops, Compaq Armada M700's) ? I logged in ran top and found
rsyslog consuming 99% of the cpu on both machines? After I restarted
rsyslog on both they seemed to run normal. The next day the same thing.
By this time I was watching more closely. I noticed that it took about
an 45 to 60 minutes and rsyslog would have consumed 95 to 99% of the cpu
on both machines?

I tried to reboot both machines but it would still happen. I have
switched back to 5.3.7 which doesn't have this problem.

I'm running Debian Lenny on both machines.
I compiled rsyslog with this:
./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --enable-relp
--enable-imtemplate --enable-omtemplate --enable-rfc3195 --enable-imdiag
--enable-mail --enable-zlib --enable-mysql --enable-gnutls
--enable-imdiag --enable-imfile --enable-omprog --enable-omudpspoof
--enable-omstdout --enable-diagtools
make
checkinstall -D make install

I used the same commands to make 5.3.7 and 5.4.0.

Is anyone else seeing high cpu loads with 5.4.0?

Thanks,
Ralph
