I mean instead of just running it without explicitly saying the version compatibility mode on v4 hosts. Sorry if that was unclear.

have a buggish smell to me).
Weird.. the v4 systems are using the default package on ubuntu 10.04. I will be coming back to this at some point this week but I have a bunch of other stuff to do. I will focus on getting one node logging to itself with fqdn and post back to the list. Thanks for your help.
