Hi all,

as can be seen in the doc at

https://github.com/rsyslog/rsyslog-pkg-ubuntu/blob/master/README.md

I try to have a common set of control files which is overriden by
version-specific files (e.g. for trusty). I introduced this because I
got the impression that adding a new Ubuntu version was a lengthy
project each time. Also, changes would require many same edits just to
different files.

However, now going over it, it begins to look to me that the
common/specific split is not really justified. Rather, it could make
sense to simply duplicate the control file set for each Ubuntu
version. Especially if one thinks that we do not want to work much on
old files, rather more on the new files. An alternative would be to
keep them in git branches ... but is this justified?

Any advise on how to best organize this would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rainer
