Hi folks,

Got a quick question regarding rsyslog forward format templates.

On the doc page: http://www.rsyslog.com/doc/master/configuration/templates.html

There are a few built in templates listed as follows.

$template FileFormat,"%TIMESTAMP:::date-rfc3339% %HOSTNAME%
%syslogtag%%msg:::sp-if-no-1st-sp%%msg:::drop-last-lf%\n"
$template TraditionalFileFormat,"%TIMESTAMP% %HOSTNAME%
%syslogtag%%msg:::sp-if-no-1st-sp%%msg:::drop-last-lf%\n"
$template ForwardFormat,"<%PRI%>%TIMESTAMP:::date-rfc3339% %HOSTNAME%
%syslogtag:1:32%%msg:::sp-if-no-1st-sp%%msg%"
$template TraditionalForwardFormat,"<%PRI%>%TIMESTAMP% %HOSTNAME%
%syslogtag:1:32%%msg:::sp-if-no-1st-sp%%msg%"

I noticed both the templates for log files have "drop-last-lf%\n" at
the end, while the two templates for log forwarding don't. Is there
any particular reason for this? Could anyone clarify a little bit?
Thanks a lot!

Kevin
