Generally, rsyslog tends to be very backward-compatible (and folks try very hard not to break anything with new releases). So your config from an older version _should_ work with a new one.

So your config _should_ work. You should not need to rewrite the config from scratch. True, in some cases the new syntax might be better but that new syntax has been "new" for a long long time.

Have you tried just implementing the old config with the new rsyslog version? Has it worked? If not, _what_ hasn't worked?

Did you try to verify your config for syntax correctness with rsyslogd -N1 ?
