Alabama schedule tourney tough

TUSCALOOSA - Alabama's men's basketball team will play 10 teams that advanced to last season's NCAA Tournament, including four that reached the Sweet 16.


The school released its 2003-04 schedule Tuesday.

In addition to the 18-game league schedule, Alabama's nonconference slate will include matchups against Pittsburgh, Providence, Oregon, Wisconsin and Xavier.

Alabama also is set to have four games televised on ESPN, two on ESPN2, one on CBS, five on FoxSportsNet and four on Jefferson-Pilot.

Here is the schedule:

Nov. 8: Global Sports (exhibition)

Nov. 14: Pittsburgh in Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, New York

Nov. 21: Louisiana Tech

Nov. 25: Southeastern Louisiana

Nov. 29: at Providence

Dec. 3: Charlotte

Dec. 6: Austin Peay

Dec. 13: Athletes in Action

Dec. 20: Oregon in Las Vegas

Dec. 27: Mercer

Dec. 30: Wisconsin

Jan. 3: at Xavier

Jan. 10: at LSU

Jan. 14: Arkansas

Jan. 17: Auburn

Jan. 21: at Georgia

Jan. 24: at Ole Miss

Jan. 27: Florida

Jan. 31: LSU

Feb. 4: at South Carolina

Feb. 10: at Kentucky

Feb. 14: Tennessee

Feb. 18: Vanderbilt

Feb. 21: at Mississippi State

Feb. 24: at Auburn

Feb. 28: Ole Miss

March 3: at Arkansas

March 6: Mississippi State.
