Freshman Barrett Pepper kicked a 32-yard field goal with six seconds left after the Wave recovered a controversial Bulldogs fumble on a pass reception that was, depending on the viewer, caught or not held for a completion. Tulane thus broke a 24-game winless streak against Southeastern Conference teams. "We didn't let them spend a lot of time thinking about it," MSU coach Jackie Sherrill said. "It was, `Get showered, get dressed and get on the bus (to the airport).' "
