UA volleyball team sweeps USC at SEC tourney November 22, 2003
COLUMBIA, S.C. | The University of Alabama volleyball team continued its hot playing Friday night by sweeping SEC tournament host South Carolina 3-0 in the opening round on Friday night. The victory raised the Tide's season record to 18-12 and was its third straight victory in the opening round of the SEC Tournament. It also was its third in a row over the Gamecocks. South Carolina ended its season with a record of 12-17. "We are very fortunate to get a win here," said UA coach Judy Green. "I really like how my team is playing volleyball right now. This is not a team of superstars." Jennifer Bibber recorded 15 kills and 12 digs and also served up five of the team's seven aces. Erin Price handed out 37 assists and tallied a team-high seven blocks. Alabama, the No. 3 seed, advances to today's semifinal match at 4 p.m. against No. 2 seed Arkansas. Top-seeded Florida faces No. 4 seed Tennessee in the tournament's other semifinal matchup.
