Todd Bates Named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week Monday, October 18, 2004 The Southeastern Conference has named University of Alabama senior defensive end Todd Bates this week’s SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week. Bates had a career day in Alabama’s 27-3 victory over the 24th ranked Southern Miss Golden Eagles this weekend. He recorded a career highs in tackles (8), tackles for a loss (2.5), yards lost (8), sacks (2), yards lost in sacks (5) and tied a career high with one quarterback pressure. He and the Alabama defense helped hold the Southern Miss offense to only 171 total yards of offense, the fifth time this season the Crimson Tide defense has held the opposing offense to under 200 yards of total offense.
