Putting it all together
Against Tennessee and LSU, the two best teams it has played all year,
Alabama led late in the second quarter in both games . on the road. Both
times, a killer second-half mistake did the Tide in. If, and that's a big if
considering this team's recent history, Alabama can avoid the big error, it
has proven it can play with anyone.
It's been done before
You don't have to look too far to find colossal upsets in the Iron
Bowl, just back to 2001 and 2002, in fact. In both those games, a big
underdog went on the road and not just beat, but blew out, a superior team.
Auburn's 2002 team, which was playing without its top two running backs when
it beat Alabama 17-7, could be a good blue print for the Tide.
The secret weapon
Call him Deuce Plus Deuce or call him Deuce Squared, by any name
Tyrone Prothro is the most explosive player on the field for Alabama. If
Alabama can find a way to put the ball in No. 4's hands 10-15 times
Saturday, he's a good bet to bust a big one on three or four of those.
