MOBILE, Ala. (AP) -- Former NFL player Keith McCants has been arrested and charged in a vehicle theft in Mobile.

Police arrested McCants on Friday for allegedly failing to return a 1998 Lincoln Navigator taken on a test drive from a car dealership in Mobile. The vehicle later was recovered.

The sales person at Cottage Hill Motors in Mobile had prior business dealings with the former Tampa Bay Buccaneer player, so he allowed the former University of Alabama player to take the car unattended.

McCants, 36, also left a Ford Explorer at the car lot, but it was repossessed by another dealership for nonpayment.

McCants retired from pro football in 1995.
