Tide's Davidson decides to try NBA draft

In a surprise move, Alabama sophomore Jermareo Davidson has made himself
eligible for next month's NBA draft.

But Davidson has not hired an agent, according to coach Mark Gottfried, and he
is expected to eventually remove his name from the draft pool and return to the
Crimson Tide next season.

Underclassmen cannot sign with an agent without forfeiting their college
eligibility. Davidson is not projected as a first-round draft pick and could go
undrafted in the two-round draft.

The 6-foot-11 Davidson had an up-and-down season as a sophomore. He started all
32 games and averaged 7.6 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.
