The eighth ranked University of Alabama softball team opens 2005 World Series action on Thursday against the fifth ranked Texas Longhorns. First pitch between the Tide and the Longhorns is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. and can be seen live on ESPN2. Fans can also follow all the action at www.rolltide.com where live stats and audio will be available. In the Tuscaloosa area, fans can tune into 90.7 FM WVUA where Chad Anderson will call all the balls and strikes.

Gabe Scott Named to Academic All-America Team
TUSCALOOSA -- University of Alabama senior left fielder Gabe Scott has been named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Team as selected by the members of the College of Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Alabama T-21st After 1st Round of NCAA Golf Championships
OWINGS MILLS, MD. - The University of Alabama is ahead of the nation's No. 1 ranked team and among a three-way tie at 21st with Kentucky and Arizona State at 11 over par after Wednesday's first round of the 2005 NCAA Men's Golf Championships. The championships, held at the par 70 Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland, began Wednesday and continue through Saturday. Thirty teams are competing for the national title. After 54 holes, a cut will be made with the low 15 teams and six individuals advancing for a final round on Saturday.
