Probably not out of the box.
I'm trying to get RT-Linux and RTAI running on the TQM8xx modules
(half-credit card sized systems with MPC823 / 850 / 860 CPUs, see
http://www.denx.de/embedded-ppc-en.html).
There are some problems:
* You probably want to be able to develop your software on a x86 box
using some cross-development tools; neither RT-Linux nor RTAI
support this so far. I've sent patches to do that both to FSMLabs
and to Paolo, but nothing happened yet. Feel free to contact me if
you want these patches.
* You will need a current kernel (at least 2.3.something) on this
system, and you want to be sure the system is really stable before
including any of the RT features. [We have 2.4.0-test5 running
now.]
* You will have to configure the kernel with KGDB or XMON support,
otherwise both RT-Linux and RTAI will crash the kernel when you try
to load the modules (because they try to write to some locations in
low memory which are normally write-protected).
That's what we have so far - at the moment RT-Linux crashes with a
kernel stack overflow when loading the module, and RTAI just hangs
the system.
Regarding RT-LInux, I've sent some messages to FSMLabs and Cort 4
days ago, and again yesterday, with zero response so far. For RTAI:
well - Paolo is on vacation.
Summary: we are working on both RT-LInux and RTAI for MPC8xx systems,
but we're still stuck in very early stages.
