I have a "customer" who's using the Mandrake 7.2 distribution and with
"reiserfs" file systems. The kernel identifies itself as "2.2.17-21mdk"
which (I assume) indicates that Mandrake patches are already in place. The
customer insists on using the Resier file system.
Question 1: Has anyone tried to apply RTL v3 patches over such a kernel?
If so, what were the results?
If I can't apply RTL v3 patches over the Mandrake-patched kernel, I see two
choices:
a) take a fresh (2.2.18) kernel and apply the Reiser patches and
then apply the RTL patches and hope that works.
b) start with a an RTL-pre-patched (2.2.18) kernel and apply the
Reiser patches to that and hope it works.
I don't see any substitute for (at least some) prayer here.
Question 2: Does anyone know what's the right order for applying the RTL and
Resier patches?
Question 3: Does anyone know what else -- besides the file system -- might
have been patched in the Mandrake distribution?
Thanks
