I haven't followed the whole kgcc thing very closely, but I don't think
Redhat 7.1 has a kgcc. At least, it's not listed in their list of
packages for 7.1 nor is it mentioned on the list of "gotchas" as it was
for 7.0. See:

To respond to the original poster, there doesn't appear to be a RTLinux
patch for Linux 2.4.2. You should download and patch 2.4.4.
Meanwhile, I've been having my own problems with RTLinux 3.1. After
booting a patched 2.4.4 kernel, my machine immediately and repeatably
locks up when I run scripts/insrtl. Does this ring a bell for anyone?
