I like Qt/GUI, which is a C++ GUI toolkit.  It has a very clean object
oriented approach to things, and it is reasonably fast and full featured.
KDE is based on this kit. Other people like Gtk (GNOME is based on this
one), but I have never actually written anything for it so I can't say how
it compares to Qt.

At any rate, try to avoid Athena/Motif as much as you can... :)
