I noticed that when calling the mbuff_attach() convenience function from
user mode, I never get an error when attempting to attach to a
non-existant (not allocated and not present in /proc/mbuff/regions)
region. I *thought* that a return value of NULL indicated that there was
some problem attaching to the mbuff (including, possibly, the fact that it
doesn't exist).

The question is: how does one determine, from a user program, short of
reading the /proc filesystem, whether or not a particular region exists?
