Hello all-
The hub below does not allow for real time performance. We experienced
very poor performance when it came to anything resembling consistent timing
of i/o. We had one set up and were sending a simple 5 character trigger
event to another computer every seven seconds and the trigger would arrive
up to 3 seconds late (worst case). We were running on NT 4.0 on a dedicated
lan (no other traffic), but the drivers may have been the problem and may
have since been fixed. 3 seconds worst case seemed extreme even for a
non-rt environment.

Have you considered using
http://www.comtrol.com/sales/specs/rpshsi.htm#Portable RocketPort serial
hub.
There is Linux source available. I have not used it but it may be
interesting way to add serial ports to RTL.
I wonder if somebody has done this already?
