You don't have to use threads unless you want to. On RTLinux you can
turn on the compatibility flag in the header file. In RTAI, the base
API is very similar to the RTLinux V1 API (RTAI has a separate POSIX
module). Also I have completed a base compatibility header that let's
you use RTLinux/RTAI using the same API (similar to the RTLinux V1 API),
I posted this a couple of weeks ago.
