Hi Victor,

If RTLinux is truly GPL, can you state clearly that the patent described
in the RTLinux distribution will only be used defensively, and not as a
means to:

a) place restrictions on derivative works

b) to force royalty payments from either RTLinux or derivatives.

Regards, Stuart

xxxxxxx 143 % cat PATENT
US Patent 5,995,745 covers the basic mechanism underlying RTLinux.
There is a royalty free license of this patent for use with the combined
open source GPL licensed versions of the Linux operating system released
by Linus Torvalds and the RTLinux RealTime Linux operating system released by
VJY Associates LLC.

PATENT FAQ:

RTLinux will continue to be released in open source. No royalties
are needed to use RTLinux or to run programs on RTLinux.

I believe the included files already answer those questions. Further, what
is with the persistent animosity towards Victor and his work? The technical
arguments presented on this list are excellent but the general slinging of
mud Victor's way is getting old.
