compiling Linux on 32-fingers is absolutely no problem.
since you have too much time...maby you would like to try out tinyRTL , its
a non-network version that runs in 4MB total , that is 2MB-RAM + 2MB-RAMDISK
kernel 2.2.14-rtl2.2 , with a fiew things stripped out.... its not done yet
but I would be interested in feedback.
