Sorry you are having this sort of problem.

You need to first check that your system works well with the new kernel.
The prepatched kenel uses 2.2.14 as its base.
I would get a clean non rt patched 2.2.14 kernel and try that first.
ftp.kernel.org or one of its mirrors.
