I've been working some weeks on an HOWTO for beginning users of
real-time and embedded systems. RTLinux and RTAI are, of course, an
important part of that HOWTO. It is complementary to other HOWTO
efforts, that deal with installation and API details of the packages;
my HOWTO explains the differences between a general purpose OS and a
Real-Time and/or Embedded OS.

The text is not finished yet, but it has reached a state where I think
it begins to be useful. I would very much appreciate any feedback,
additions, collaborations, links to related efforts, etc. Thanks!
