Dear Real-Timers,

I've put a new rt_com pre-release at
  ftp://rt-com.sourceforge.net/pub/rt-com/
This fixes some performance issues in rt_com-0.5.3. The patch was
submitted by Giuseppe Renoldi -- thank you very much.

As I don't have enough time to thoroughly test this release I've only
prepared a pre-release and would appreciate any feedback on it. This
version seems to work for me.
If I get any feedback ;-O and there is nothing serious, I'll put out a
new release soon.

IMPORTANT: As I cannot manage to put enopugh time into rt_com, I am
looking for a *new maintainer*! Anybody concerned with rt_com should
carefully consider wether she/he can spend some time on rt_com.
(There is actually no need to have a single maintainer, but a team of a
few persons can do as well -- or better.)

There are some issues that *have to* be addressed:
  - POSIX interface
  - updates for Linux-2.4 and accompanying NMT-RTL/RTAI distributions.
  - cleanup interface

In case people are concerned about the time spend for work on
preparing releases and maintaining the archive, I am willing to do
that work interim-wise for some more months.

Anyway, we need to do some coding on rt_com -- please consider wether
*YOU* can provide some help.

Trying to help the new maintainers already, I want to encourage
everybody (again) to contribute their changes/improvements to rt_com!

To make this as easy and usefull as possible, please send patches
(context or unified diffs) against the latest release or current cvs
to [EMAIL PROTECTED], along with a description of
the code.

Hoping to get some feedback

Greetings,
Jochen
