Hello everyone;
To duplicate emulation experiments to further research into optical
networking, I need to install rtlinux, version 2.2, on a system already
running redhat 6.2. I was able to download the kernel and untar it, but
the installation instructions seemed to be for a different release. The
pair of problems that bring my attempts to install to an abrupt halt are
as follows:
1) I cannot find a patch for rtl2.2 in the downloads section, is it
pre-patched, or am I looking for a patch to the kernel that is the
redhat installation (2.2.14-5.0)
2) When I untar the downloaded file from www.rtlinux.org, it does not
have subdirectory called linux, nor does it have a file named INSTALL.
I apologise for the really dumb question, but how do I install rtlinux
2.2? The installation hints do not seem to apply to the file that I
downloaded.
For the curious, the hard real time environment allows us to evaluate
highspeed network protocols without having to build the highspeed
network. By judicious use of added delays, and guaranteed timing, we
can make the slow network appear much faster (this is equivalent to the
model studies done by shipbuilders).
Sincerely;
Richard Bell
